Dr. Elena Kostadinova SIMEONOVA is associate professor in empirical political research and political risk analysis at the Department of Political Science, UNWE, Sofia. She holds a PhD in Political Science and two masters degrees: in International Relations and in finance from the UNWE. She has received professional trainings in USA, Sweden, Denmark, and Greece in the field of crises management, strategic security politics and public politics impact assessment. Elena Simeonova has many wears of expert experience in developing analytical tools and indicators for policy and risk analysis. She previously served as a Trainer on a UNDESA Poverty Eradication Project (2004-2006), Analyst on a UNDP Early Warning Project-Bulgaria (1999-2002), and Senior Analyst on a CRISMART Project Crisis Management Capacity Building in Bulgaria (2002-2005). She published the first academic book on political risk analysis in Bulgaria. At her suggestion, in 2012, UNWE introduced two academic courses on political risk management, one in the bachelor's program in political science and the other in the master's program in finance.
